The movement against funded pensions had a meeting on Friday with the four non-coalition forces and discussed the organization of a rally scheduled for March 22.
Vartan Oskanian and Stepan Sargsyan (Prosperous Armenia Party – PAP), Levon Zurabyan (Armenian National Congress – ANC), Ruben Hakobyan and Tevan Poghosyan (Heritage party) and Artsvik Minasyan and Armen Rustamyan (Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun – ARF-D) participated in the meeting.
Following the meeting, Gevorg Gorgisyan of the movement against funded pensions said that the March 22 rally is going to be a joint rally, with the four non-coalition forces’ participation.
“Our movement is cooperating with the four non-coalition forces that have applied to the Constitutional Court and to us. This is cooperation between citizens and political forces. But we remain a civil movement,” the activist said.
Activist David Manukyan noted that the non-coalition forces represent Armenian citizens in Parliament.
“We do hold streets protests, but we have political structures and a legislative body which are supposed to hear citizens’ voice,” he said.
Manukyan stressed the movement is not seeking power.
The movement is glad about Armenian Minister of Finance David Sargsyan’s statement that the protests are orchestrated. This is actually the evidence of the authorities’ fears.
As to the movement’s steps after March 22, the activists said that it depends on the Constitutional Court’s ruling.
